High-definition (HD) channel provider Euro1080 has begun broadcasting HDTV footage of the Winter Olympics, the company announced.

Euro1080 will use Astra, Sirius, Eutelsat and more than 35 cable and Internet Protocol networks across Europe to broadcast footage through April 30 on HD1, the company’s flagship HDTV channel in Europe.

“Since the Games in Turin were available in HDTV on a large scale to U.S. and Japanese viewers, we thought Euro1080 should set the example in Europe,” Gabriel Fehervari, CEO of Euro1080 said in a statement. “The images that we will bring on air are truly spectacular and of a superb quality.”
