Americom Government Services To Market Xtar

Americom Government Services Inc. (AGS) signed an agreement with Xtar LLC to market X-band communications capacity to the U.S. Department of Defense and other agencies, AGS announced March 2.

Xtar, a joint venture of Loral Space & Communications and Spain’s Hisdesat, owns and operates the Xtar-Eur satellite, which is designed to provide X-band services from Eastern Brazil to as far east as Singapore. In the United States, X-band capacity is reserved for use by the government.

“We’re delighted to expand the reach of Xtar services through an agreement with an experienced government satcom services partner such as AGS,” Denis Curtin, Xtar’s COO, said. “Working with companies like AGS is an integral part of our strategy to aggressively pursue opportunities with U.S. and Allied government entities through direct and indirect channels.”

In February, Xtar signed master service agreements with General Dynamics Satellite Communications Services Inc. and Stratos Mobile Networks Inc. to market and lease X-band capacity to U.S. and allied government agencies.
