Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd. (IAI) awarded a contract to Space International Services and Sea Launch Co. to launch the Amos-3 satellite using the Land Launch system, Sea Launch announced Feb. 20. The launch aboard a Zenis-3SLB from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan in scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2007.

Amos-3, manufactured by IAI’s MBT Space division, will replace Amos-1 at 4 degrees West. Amos-3 will carry Ku- and Ka-band transponders to provide broadcast and communications services to Europe, the Middle East and the East Coast of the United States. The Amos system is owned and operated by Space-Communication Ltd.

This is the third commercial contract for Land Launch.
