Intersat, the Brazil-based partner of Digitalglobe, has provided satellite imagery to South America’s largest telecommunications operator, Digitalglobe announced Feb. 1.
Telemar will use the high-resolution imagery from Digitalglobe’s Quickbird satellite in conjunction with Basic Urban Map, an Intersat offering that creates urban maps using the imagery, to analyze telecommunications solutions. Telemar has a license to use about 10,000 square kilometers of imagery.
Telemar is the largest provider of fixed-line and mobile telecommunication services in South America and has concessions from the Brazilian government to provide fixed-line telecommunication services in the region, which consists of 16 states including the state of Rio de Janeiro.
