Seakey, a provider of in-boat safety, security and information services using the GPS satellite network and enhanced wireless technology, unveiled its next-generation satellite communications product with enhanced features aimed at boater safety and security, the company announced Jan. 31.

The primary components of the Seakey system are the command and control module. The command module houses a backlit LCD display unit and provides an intuitive interface to utilize all system features, commands and SOS Emergency directives. Enhanced e-mail functions enable users to send and receive directly from the boat.

The control module provides fulltime, direct access to the satellite communications network and houses the core monitoring logic to trigger onboard alarms and notify the Seakey Response Center to initiate appropriate action. An integrated GPS receiver allows Seakey to track vessels’ location, respond to an on-board emergency or aid in the recovery of a stolen vessel.
