The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is finalizing the design of a satellite that will provide mobile television services, according to reports from the Hindu Business Line.

A prototype of the spacecraft, which will use MPEG-4 standards to provide content to portable devices, is being evaluated by ISRO. The agency is in discussions with an unnamed U.S. company to lease much of the transponder space, the report said.

Launch of the satellite remains more than two years away, the report said.
