Comtech Telecommunications Corp. announced Jan. 10 that its Maryland-based subsidiary, Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp., received a preliminary contract valued at up to $22.6 million to provide satellite communications and network management services to the U.S. Army.

Under the contract with the U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command, Comtech will supply satellite capacity, communications and network management services, and related support. The contract relates to Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below-Blue Force Tracking, a battle command real-time situational awareness command and control system.

Initial funding was set at $16.9 million, with the contract expected to be finalized and funded to its full value within the next few months, Comtech said.
