Omega-Orion Enterprises Ltd. Co. has launched a new high-speed satellite Internet service, the company announced Jan. 2. The service will use the DOCSIS protocol used by cable companies for cable and DSL modems, and Omega-Orion claims bandwidth availability will surpass that provided by existing satellite Internet services in North America.

“Many people are concerned about yet another satellite Internet service that will fall short on its bandwidth and service levels,” Elizabeth Herbst, COO of Omega-Orion, said in a statement. “We know that this is a service that will astonish rather then disappoint.”
