Wildblue Communications announced Dec. 21 its intentions to “aggressively” enter the enterprise VSAT market in the first quarter of 2006 with its high-speed Internet access via satellite.

Wildblue will offer enterprise-class high speed, two-way products and services at “compelling price points” to small and medium enterprises, telecommuters and specialized industries, the company said. The service will offer download speeds of up to 1.5 megabits per second and upload speeds of up to 256 kilobits per second.

Wildblue has initially contracted with four value-added resellers to offer the equipment and service. The resellers, California-based Ground Control, California-based Optistreams, Oregon-based Broad Sky Networks and Virginia-based Amtech, will handle all sales, installation and service for their individual subscribers. Pricing for the service has not been disclosed.
