XM Satellite Radio said Dec. 20 that former National Hockey League (NHL) superstar Mark Messier signed a marketing agreement to promote XM’s broadcasts of NHL games and NHL talk radio channel Home Ice. Messier will promote XM in print, broadcast, online and in-store marketing campaigns, as well as make regular appearances on Home Ice.

As part of the agreement, XM will be the sole sponsor of the New York Rangers’ Jan. 12 ceremony at Madison Square Garden to retire Messier’s No. 11 jersey.
