SES Sirius CEO Per Norman expects Eastern Europe and high-definition television (HDTV) to be two of the strong growth drivers for the direct-to-home satellite operator in 2006.
“I think we will have an even stronger position in Eastern Europe, and you will see more HDTV channels,” Norman told Satellite Today. “I think HDTV will happen pretty quickly in Eastern Europe and the Baltics.”
SES Sirius (formerly Nordic Satellite AB) is partly (25 percent) government-owned through the Swedish Space Corp. SES Astra holds the remaining 75 percent of SES Sirius.
