EMS Executive Killed In Diving Accident

Penny Glover, managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa for EMS Technologies Inc.‘s Satellite Networks Division, and her diving partner were reported missing following a Nov. 21 deep-sea dive off the southern coast of France, EMS announced.

The French government conducted a search of the Mediterranean Sea near Cote D’Azur, France, but have been unable to locate the bodies. French authorities Nov. 28 began a search below depths of 60 meters using remote-controlled vehicles and video cameras.

“We as a company are shocked by the loss of Penny,” Don Osbourne, senior vice president of EMS’ Satellite Networks division said. “She has gone on dives that were risky, one of seven people in the world to dive some areas. But this was routine, and that makes is harder to deal with.”

Osborne said Glover had a “deep impact operationally our organization.”

Glover, 42, a native of the United Kingdom, joined EMS in September 2004 and was based in France. Glover, who had been diving for nearly 20 years, was a former chief instructor for the British Scuba Aqua Club and was recognized as one of Britain’s top rebreather experts.
