The Japan Aerospace Explora-tion Agency (JAXA) has scheduled the launch of the Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) for Jan. 19 aboard a H-2A launch vehicle. The rocket will be launched from the Yoshinobu Launch Complex at the Tanegashima Space Center in Japan. ALOS will be used for cartography, regional observation, disaster monitoring and resource surveying.
