Roadpost Inc. said it dropped pricing on its Iridium service offerings to address growing demand for business continuity/disaster recovery communications.

“The recent hurricanes have shown that renting satellite services on an as-needed basis is simply not enough,” Roadpost President and CEO Morris Shawn said in a statement. “Demand for these handsets is so high that supply is quickly exhausted. In many cases, handsets can’t even be shipped to disaster areas, so businesses are often left with no means of communication for days or even weeks. Customers are now realizing the benefits of long term planning for back-up communications and subscription services are the ideal way to do that.”

Among the packages Roadpost is now offering are a 0-minute plan for $29 per month; the Iridium 30, which includes 30 minutes of airtime per month for a monthly charge of $65 and includes a $125 handset rebate; the Iridium 120 for $149 per month, which includes 120 minutes of airtime monthly plus a $250 handset rebate; and the Iridium 240 for $249 per month, which includes 240 minutes of airtime monthly plus a $500 rebate. Incoming calls to the handsets are free and Roadpost allows users to carry forward unused minutes for 12 months.
