IPStar New Zealand announced Oct. 27 it has approved National Communications Corp. Ltd. (Natcom) to begin selling products and services that use the IPStar (Thaicom 4) satellite. Natcom offers broadband services and specializes in offering solutions to rural and niche customers, such as holiday lodges.

Natcom intends to continue the growth of satellite broadband as a core product and have initiatives to use IPStar as a viable Internet connection for communities. After installation of an IPStar unit, Natcom would also offer a wireless broadband solution such as WiMax in a community to provide broadband access where no other solution could work.

With the recent growth in broadband and the added benefit it brings to people, IPSTAR New Zealand recently announced that New Zealand could have a market size of around 55,000 satellite stations.
