EMS Satellite Networks announced Oct. 18 that DVB-RCS standardization organization Satlabs Group issued EMS a DVB-RCS certificate of compliance. The certificate verifies that EMS broadband satellite terminals comply with the standard and can interoperate with other DVB-RCS-based satellite equipment.

“Interoperability between terminals and systems is one of the key advantages of the open standard and the main driver for continuously lowering the cost of broadband via satellite equipment and solutions,” Xavier Lobao, chairman of Satlabs said in a statement. “It allows customers to choose freely between multiple vendors instead of being tied to a proprietary or single-vendor technology.”

Separately, EMS Satellite Networks announced that Michael Pollack has been named director of federal sales. Prior to joining EMS, Pollack was director at Hughes Network Systems, where he was responsible for business development, sales and technical marketing activities for U.S. government and global activities.
