Satellite equipment supplier Newtec won a contract to provide Eurovision, the operational service of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), with a series of DVB-S2 modulators. The deal will allow Eurovision to update its existing modulator infrastructure to be compliant with the DVB-S2 standard, Newtec said.
The Newtec DVB-S2 Azimuth modulator can provide bandwidth savings of more than 30 percent when used in constant coding and modulation mode for applications such as satellite TV contribution and distribution, Internet protocol trunking or interactive satellite services, Newtec said.
