STMicroelectronics said Sept. 30 it has shipped about 10.5 million XM Satellite Radio baseband decoders to XM’s radio manufacturers. The decoders integrate all the specific functions needed to manufacture an XM radio. STMicroelectronics is the sole supplier of the baseband decoders.

“This milestone is very important for both STMicroelectronics and XM. It indicates strong demand throughout the supply chain for XM’s digital satellite radio service,” Ugo Carena, corporate vice president and general manager of STMicroelectronics’ Automotive Product Group, said in a statement.
