DirecTV Inc. will begin broadcasting music, children’s and talk programming provided by XM Satellite Radio beginning Nov. 15, the companies announced Sept. 29.

The XM channel will nearly double the amount of audio programming available to DirecTV subscribers, the companies said. DirecTV Total Choice subscribers will receive 50 XM channels, while Total Choice Plus subscribers will have access to 65 channels. DirecTV Para Todos customers will receive the regular XM channels, as well as five additional Latin music channels.

“DirecTV is making a major commitment in the world of music and this alliance with XM Satellite Radio will leave a lasting imprint on not only our more than 14.6 million customers nationwide, but on the pay television industry as a whole,” Dan Fawcett, DirecTV’s executive vice president, programming acquisitions, said in a statement.
