Panamsat announced Sept. 28 that Direct-on-PC, a Nigeria-based Internet service provider (ISP) will use the PAS-1R satellite as the foundation for its new hub/earth station. The hub, based on iDirect’s managed network solution, will be used to support various VSAT, voice-over-Internet protocol and Internet protocol services. The hub will provide connectivity for various business-wide area network applications and will support shared services, dedicated services in star topography and mesh services by the end of 2005.
