Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) said Sept. 20 that Mark Faris will take over as the company’s chief operating officer. Faris, a 30-year veteran network operator, will be responsible for design, development, procurement, deployment and operation of MSV’s hybrid satellite/terrestrial wireless network.

Prior to joining MSV, Faris led the deployment for major portions of SBC’s cellular networks as well as all facets of operations. He also spent two years with Bell Communications Research developing future operations support systems of IP-based networks.
