NDS and Winetworks said Sept. 7 the companies will be demonstrating at both companies’ booths at IBC 2005 in Amsterdam Sept. 9-13 an integrated “triple play” solution for DBS operators that allows direct-to-home satellite providers to offer telephony, broadband Internet, video-on-demand, interactive TV services and future mobile support over existing network infrastructure.

The system uses the Videoguard conditional access system to secure both DVB and Internet protocol (IP) video streams delivered simultaneously from satellite and WiMAX infrastructure.

“The integrated vision of broadcast and IP has a strong value proposition for satellite operators,” Gadi Tirosh, NDS vice president of product marketing said in a statement. “WiMAX technology in many ways compliments the satellite broadcast and possesses potential for both underserved areas and growth into mobile services.”
