Tandberg Ready To Unveil New DVB-S2 System
Tandberg Television will unveil an end-to-end DVB-S2 (digital video broadcasting – satellite version 2) system for satellite broadcasting at the IBC trade show in Amsterdam this week, the company announced. The system will allow for broadcasting of standard-definition and high-definition signals.
Tandberg will launch new satellite modulators and professional receivers designed to maximize the power of the DVB-S2 satellite transmission standard. The end-to-end solution aims to demonstrate how satellite broadcasters can build a cost-effective, bandwidth-efficient DVB-S2 system using the latest encoding, decoding, multiplexing and control technology.
Tandberg recently completed its first full DVB-S2 trial, which was done in combination with the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva, Switzerland. Roger Bolton, director of business development for Tandberg Television said, “Our tests with the EBU, together with our first-to-market IBC launch of DVB-S2 modulators and receivers, shows that the long- awaited next generation standard for satellite broadcasting has finally arrived.”
