The Russian Satellite Communications Co. (RSCC) has moved a pair of satellites in order to consolidate its positions in the market place, the company announced.

The Express-A4 satellite will be relocated from 40 degrees East to 14 degrees West, and Express-A2 will be shifted from 80 degrees East to 103 degrees East. Moving the satellites will allow RSCC to establish C- and Ku-band transponders in the interest of Russian and foreign clients. And protect Russian orbital and frequency resources as well.

Express-A4 will cover Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and the Eastern coast of North America. Express-A2 E) will cover the central regions of Russia, the Ural, Siberia, the Far East and most countries of Asia.

Existing clients at the previous slots occupied by Express-A4 and Express-A2 will be switched to the new Express-AM series satellites. Express-AM1 satellite went into operation at 40 degrees East Feb. 1. Express-AM2 satellite was put into operation June 16 at 80 degrees East.
