Weida Communications Inc. said Aug. 24 it received three new contracts to provide satellite communications systems for electric power utilities in China. The deals are expected to bring the company about $250,000 in product sales and subscriber service revenues throughout the next two to three months.

The first contract is with the Fuxin Electric Power Bureau, which has ordered 36 new satellite communications terminals for video conferencing and its long-distance training network. The terminals are being used in a pilot project of China’s national electric power agency intended to develop a satellite communications network throughout the Liaoning Province.

The second contract is with Nei Mongolia Baotou Electric Power Bureau, which ordered six satellite communications terminals to be used for electric power dispatch.

The third contract is with the Shenyang Extra-High-Voltage Bureau, which ordered nine fixed satellite communications stations and a mobile station. The stations will be used primarily for video conferencing.

Weida also announced it concluded a sales agency agreement with an unnamed company associated with a national safety bureau that will provide Weida with marketing and sales access to China’s industrial safety sector and coal mining industry.
