Premiere Sees Strong Subscriber Growth

German satellite pay-TV operator Premiere, reported earlier this week it had more than 3.3 million subscribers at the end of June, a year-on-year increase of more than 14 percent.

Premiere added nearly 15,000 subscribers in the second quarter 2005. In the same quarter a year ago, the operator lost more than 60,000 subscribers. In the first half of this year, the operator also increased its revenues to 478.8 million euros ($592.3 million), compared to 428.1 million euros ($529.6 million) in the first half of 2004.

Premiere is looking to maintain its subscriber growth rate by launching three high-definition channels in November.
