SES Americom and Comcast Media Center will jointly develop a digital transport service that uses the AMC-4 satellite to distribute digital channels to cable systems, the companies announced Aug. 9.

The offering, when combined with Comcast’s digital overlay platform, is intended to provide operations with digital programming with minimal investment at the cable headend, the companies said.
