Echostar Communications Corp. reported an 18 percent increase in total revenues to $2.1 billion in the second quarter 2005, compared to $1.8 billion in revenues reported in the second quarter 2004. The increase was reported along side the addition of 225,000 net new subscribers during the second quarter ended June 30, bringing the total number of subscribers to Echostar’s Dish Network direct-to-home satellite television service to 11.5 million.

Echostar reported a net income for the just completed quarter of $856 million, up from a net income of $85 million reported in the same period one year ago. Net income for the second quarter 2005 includes a non-recurring, non-cash benefit of about $593 million to recognize the tax benefit of previously reported tax losses.
