Hughes Network Systems LLC will use Intelsat‘s newly launched IA-8 satellite to support HNS’ Direcway broadband satellite service.

HNS will use an undisclosed number of Ku-band transponders on IA-8, launched in June, to support its enterprise, small office/home office and consumer offerings. Intelsat said that HNS committed to “multiple” transponders prior to the IA-8 launch.
