XM, USTA Ink Multi-Year Broadcast, Marketing Partnership
XM Satellite Radio and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced Aug. 1 a new broadcasting and marketing partnership under which XM will broadcast live the 2005 U.S. Open men’s and women’s singles finals and the four semifinal matches. Additionally, XM will be “the official satellite radio of the U.S. Open” through 2007.
The partnership also calls for XM to broadcast weekly reports from the U.S. Open Series, the North American summer series of the tournaments of the ATP (the body that governs men’s professional tennis) and the Sony Ericcson WTA Tour (which oversees women’s professional tennis). These reports will feature exclusive programming from the tournaments, including reviews and previews, player interviews and the latest U.S. Open Series Bonus Challenge standings. Reports will air on several of XM’s sports channels during the U.S. Open Series tournament season.
