Connexion By Boeing said Aug. 1 its in-flight wireless Internet service became the first to be verified through Intel Corp.‘s Wireless Verification Program, which measures the compatibility of Connexion by Boeing with common Intel Centrino mobile technology-based laptop configurations.

Through the program, Intel works with wireless service providers to identify and minimize issues related to quality of service, site coverage and downtime. To date, Intel said the program has verified 103 service providers that operate more than 70,000 Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide.

Connexion by Boeing and Intel said they would work together with airlines to increase awareness, trial and adoption of in-flight Internet access through co-branding, promotions and educational efforts targeted at both business and leisure travelers.
