EADS Space Reports Strong Start For 2005
EADS Space Division recorded earnings before interest and taxes of 7 million euros ($8.45 million) in the first six months of 2005, rebounding from a loss of 12 million euros ($14.49 million) in the first half of 2004, EADS reported July 27. Revenue was 1.2 billion euros ($1.5 billion), up from 1.1 billion euros ($1.33 billion) in the first half of 2004 due to the ramp up of the Ariane 5 program.
The improvement in the Space Division, along with strong Airbus commercial airplane deliveries, helped EADS more than double its profit from 318 million ($384 million) euros in the first half of 2004 to 816 million euros ($985 million) in the first half of 2005. Revenue improved 10 percent to 16 billion euros ($19.3 billion) during the same period.
