Arianespace said July 18 that it would announce the new launch date for Shin Satellite Plc‘s IPStar satellite next week. The satellite originally was slated for launch from Arianespace’s French Guiana launch site July 8, but that date was pushed back to July 11 to allow for the completion of launch readiness reviews. During that delay, an anomaly with the ground equipment used to prepare the Ariane 5 rocket was discovered, further delaying the launch.

According to a statement issued by Arianespace, “After completion of further checks to the Ariane 5 launcher preparation facilities, [the company] has decided to carry out a careful examination of the equipment involved. A few additional days will be necessary to complete these operations.”

The Space Systems/Loral-built IPStar is designed to provide business and commercial customers throughout Asia, Australia and New Zealand with various levels of Internet access services.
