Hurricane Dennis Provides Testing Ground For Satellite Communication Trucks
Crawford & Co. Catastrophe Services said July 18 it tested a new satellite communication truck, deploying the vehicle to Pensacola, Fla., in the aftermath of Hurricane Dennis. According to the company, the satellite truck provided a stable source of power and wireless communications to Crawford’s field units and adjusters.
The trucks provide, via satellite, 10 to 15 wireless voice lines and more than 250 Internet connections. Each truck also powers a generator that can be used by adjusters to charge laptops, mobile phones and other business tools, Crawford said.
