Modern Times Group (MTG) CEO Hans-Holger Albrecht is cautious about the prospects for Personal Video Recorder (PVR) services in the Nordic region. MTG subsidiary Viasat Broadcasting will launch PVR services later this year after reaching an agreement with set-top box supplier Pace Micro Technology in late June. Viasat operates a direct-to-home satellite television platform in the Nordic region and hopes the PVR offering will help improve subscriber numbers where Viasat faces strong competition from Canal Digital and other terrestrial-based providers.

“It will not be easy in the beginning,” Albrecht said. “It is new and it will take time to build awareness.”
