XM Satellite Radio announced July 12 the formation of a joint venture, Network Live, with AEG, America Online and entertainment and technology veteran Kevin Wall. Network Live will be a multi-platform digital entertainment company that will deliver live entertainment programming through the Internet, satellite and other third party global media platforms such as video-on-demand, wireless and high-definition television. Wall, who most recently served as executive producer of the Live 8 concert series, will be the CEO of Network Live.

In a separate announcement, XM announced July 11 it signed a deal with Air America Radio to become the exclusive satellite radio distributor of Air America’s programming. The deal was described as “long term” by XM, but the length of the agreement was not disclosed.

As part of the new agreement, Air America Radio’s on-air personalities, including Al Franken, will regularly do live broadcasts in front of a studio audience at XM’s Washington, D.C., studios.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
