Com Dev International Ltd. said MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) awarded it a Cdn. $12 million ($9.84 million) to provide information delivery subsystems for the Cassiope multi-purpose information delivery and scientific research mission.

Cassiope is the name of Canada’s first multi-purpose information delivery and scientific research small satellite mission. The mission consists in building an advanced small satellite platform that will be adaptable for a wide range of mission.

Under the terms of the contract, Com Dev will provide a variety of information delivery subsystems based on Ka-band communications technology. The company will design, assemble, integrate and test the products on Com Dev’s facility in Cambridge, Ontario during the next 18 months.
