Novatel Inc. said July 6 it received an order for four WAAS (wide area augmentation system)-GUS (ground uplink system) type 1 signal generators from Raytheon Co. in support of the U.S. Geostationary Communications and Control Segment program. Novatel completed shipments of the signal generators in June. Novatel valued the contract at about $295,000.
The WAAS GUS-Type 1 Signal Generator is a high-performance L1 and L5 signal generator designed for use in the ground uplink system of Space-based Augmentation Systems. WAAS is a program run by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and is designed to improve the availability and accuracy of the GPS navigation signal.
