Asiasat announced a deal under which Asian media and entertainment company Star will use Asiasat 2’s C-band capacity to provide programming primarily for back-up services.

Star is currently using C-band capacity on Asiasat 3S to offer more than 50 television channels in eight languages to audiences in more than 50 countries and regions across Asia. The extra Asiasat 2 capacity will enable Star to provide dual broadcast capability for some of its key channels.

Guo Xiao Yong, CTO of Star said, “The use of Asiasat 2 for backup services underscores our relentless efforts in offering the best of our services to our viewers. In addition to providing supreme quality in our broadcast signals, we also guarantee our viewers uninterrupted viewing of their favorite program even under emergency.”
