A team led by Northrop Grumman Corp. completed the delta preliminary design review on the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) program, Northrop Grumman announced June 29.

The review covered system design in relation to its performance and interface requirements and concept of operations. About 300 participants from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Department of Defense and NASA, as well as industry teammates, attended the review at Northrop Grumman Space Technology’s Redondo Beach headquarters from June 13-17.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Technology sector is prime contractor for NPOESS, which will provide weather data for the U.S. government, replacing separate programs currently operated by the Commerce and Defense Departments.
