Telenor Satellite Services announced June 29 a four-year agreement with British Telecommunications (BT) to provide an Internet protocol (IP) custom network over satellite to 83 European Commission embassies around the world.

Telenor will provide BT with a set of satellite capabilities that enable the European Commission embassies to use satellite solutions as either stand-alone services or integrate them with BT’s high-end MPLS-based IP virtual private network service.

The agreement is valued at 50 million euros ($60.5 million) and includes options for service extensions, Telenor said.
