Express-AM2 Put Into Service
The Russian Satellite Communication Co. said June 28 the Russian Express-AM2 satellite was put into operation June 16 at its 80 degrees East orbital slot.
The satellite will provide presidential and governmental mobile communications and digital broadcasting of federal television and radio, as well as video conferencing, telephony data transmission and broadband Internet access in Russia, China, Korea, North India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and the northern part of Indochina.
Express-AM2, placed into orbit March 30, carries 16 C-band transponders, 12 Ku-band transponders and one L-band transponder. It has an in-orbit service life of 12 years.
