MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) received a contract from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to study technology for in-space manufacturing and assembly of a very large optical sensor surface and structure.
Under the contract, MDA would define a demonstration system for the Large Aperture Surveillance of Space Optical program. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
