DirecTV approved technology developed by LG Electronics that will allow high-definition television (HDTV) signals to be delivered to hotel rooms, DirecTV announced June 22.

Lodgenet Entertainment Corp. will be the first company to deploy the transcoder, a secure device that receives satellite HDTV signals and reformats the signal to meet the digital television standard for distribution through a hotel’s existing television infrastructure.
