Echostar Communications Corp., which operates the Dish Network direct-to-home satellite television system, is making preparations for what is expected to be another busy hurricane season on the U.S. East Coast, the company said.

The company alerted extra technicians to stand by and reviewed methods for restoring service to allow customers to receive local channels in areas affected by storms. A study from Colorado State University forecasts up to eight hurricane-strength storms could hit the U.S. East Coast in 2005.
