Globalstar LLC announced June 13 that it entered into a $140 million multi-year agreement with Qualcomm Inc. to manufacture next-generation satellite voice and data products.

The agreement secures Globalstar’s hardware requirements for at least the next four years and the investment will enable the company to continue offering satellite voice handsets and data hardware to domestic and international distributors, resellers and end-user customers at a lower price point, Globalstar said.

Jay Monroe, CEO and chairman of Globalstar LLC, said, “In the near term, the agreement enables Globalstar to ensure an uninterrupted supply of mobile handsets and fixed units. It also assures Qualcomm’s future involvement in the production of our next-generation satellite voice and data products.”
