Alcatel Space is determined to become more of a key player in the field of satellite radio.

In the United States, XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio have demonstrated that there is a viable market for satellite radio. Alcatel Space CEO Pascale Sourisse believes there is a strong opportunity for the company in satellite radio outside of the United States.

“We believe that digital satellite radio is an attractive opportunity in terms of services,” Sourisse told Satellite Today. “It does not require too much thinking to determine that. You just have to look at the success that XM Radio and Sirius are having in the United States. It can be very attractive business opportunity.”

Sourisse believes demand for satellite radio can be found around the globe. “We believe there is demand for these services in many regions of the world, not only in Europe. It can also be in Asia and other continents. Alcatel is very interested in this opportunity and we are working on this. We have a lot of technology for those kinds of solutions.”

An exclusive interview with Pascale Sourisse can be found in the June 6 issue of Satellite News. For more information about subscribing to Access Intelligence’s satellite industry news and information products, visit our Web site at https://www.satellitetoday.com.
