G2 Satellite Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Panamsat that focuses on providing communications solutions to the U.S. government, announced June 1 the launch of a new global managed network service based on iDirect‘s technology.

As part of the managed network solution, G2 provides mobile and fixed terminal options ranging from small, sub 1-meter very small aperture terminals to ruggedized, auto-acquire systems and a lightweight, inflatable antenna for quick-deploy communications. G2 manages the network and provides operational data to customers. G2 also offers remote site equipment, installation, shipping, licensing and integration into new or legacy networks.

“We designed this network after listening carefully to government and military users about what was missing from other service offerings,” Tom Eaton, G2 president and Panamsat executive vice president, said in a statement.
