Mobile Satellite Ventures said it received a sixth patent related to its ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) technology for its Mobile Satellite Services. The patent covers systems and methods for coordinating space-based and terrestrial use of satellite frequencies for a satellite/terrestrial hybrid network. Specifically, the patent covers both band segmentation and/or frequency reuse between the two components of the hybrid network.
