Spacehab Posts Loss As Revenues Slide In 2005 Third Quarter
Spacehab Inc. lost $500,000 in its 2005 third quarter as revenue dipped slightly due to delays in NASA‘s space shuttle program, the company reported May 10.
Spacehab, which provides space-related processing services to commercial customers and the U.S. government, reported revenue of $14.3 million in the third quarter, which ended March 31. In the 2004 third quarter, Spacehab posted a profit of $300,000 on revenue of $14.8 million.
“NASA’s rescheduling of the space shuttle launch to mid July 2005 is expected to have a small impact on our revenues and margins in the third and fourth quarters,” Brian Harrington, Spacehab’s chief financial officer, said in a statement. “However, we are generally reimbursed under the contract for additional costs due to delays once we begin mission-specific work.”
